Design of an origami-based cylindrical deployable mechanism

Abstract. In this paper, an innovative cylindrical deployable mechanism (DM) based on rigid origami is presented, which used to design a parabolic antenna. The can be deployed from the cuboid folded configuration unfolded with only one actuator. First, string proposed different types of four-vertices unit cells and kirigami techniques. By considering units as 6R single-loop mechanisms, kinematics are analyzed. Through connection identical strings, DM constructed, its mobility analyzed utilizing screw theory. Then A number pillars installed panels DM, their lengths determined fit required surface. To verify feasibility design, scaled prototype antenna constructed.
